Good businesses grow out then up.

Predictably, business owners and entrepreneurs ask how to grow their business to the next level. What the next level means can vary. Ultimately, business owners hire business coaches to help them create more time freedom and, bottom line, more money.

Unfortunately, unless you are a bank robber, money can’t really be your goal in business. Money is what we receive as a by product of selling our product or service. More money is accomplished as a result of “more” production of those things and S.M.A.R.T. goals need to be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely, right?

In Edmond, Oklahoma, I offer my business coaching services to companies all around the United States, this conversation is not only expected, it’s inevitable.

What can you do right now in your business to grow it to the next level?

Are you ready for the answer? Are you really ready or are you just saying you’re ready?

You have to master this level first before you can advance to the next level. Just like a video game, you will need to complete the achievements, repel the bad guys, work the puzzle and defeat the Level Boss. (Wanna know a secret, you are the Level Boss…) Yup, your current methods, processes and habits stand at the top of your business and will not allow anyone beyond the top of the stairs.

What got you to level two won’t get you to level three.

Think of it like building a physical office building. You want to grow your building from a two-story facility to a three-story structure and do it in such a way that you can expand more later. You have to have the second floor completely built out before we can safely begin construction on the third floor. And before that, inspect the foundation to make sure it will handle the load. What is the foundational basis for your business? Do you and your staff know your Corporate Vision, Purpose and Mission Statements? If not, that’s a great place to begin and 7th Gear Coaching can help.

There is a joke about entrepreneurs having the attention span of an adolescent ferret. Attracted to the shiny thing and neglecting the boring processes that need attention. This is understandable, but know that you can learn how to build a S.M.A.R.T. business that can and will grow. This will require change and growth on your part.

Are you OK with that?

I am imagining that everyone looking for a quick fix to grow their businesses is feeling annoyed right now. “Chris, just give us the one secret we’ve been missing so we can do that and get rich now. And while you’re at it, hurry.”

OK, I will give you one secret, hire an experienced business owner who is now a Business Coach. Make sure to hire someone who has actually done it-more than once. It makes all the difference, we all need a coach to defeat the Level Boss.
